Very versatile and…

Very versatile and rather robust bike. After 1000km, no problems to report. The transmission with the Shimano 105 is very precise. Very wide speed distribution which allows you to pass all the big bumps and have a lot of fun on the smoother sections. Hybrid braking, frankly effective after 2/3 adjustment initially. I think it's a very good compromise at an unrivaled price if you're looking for an all-around bike. If you are looking for pure performance, however, you will have to move upmarket.

Very good value for money

First Gravel for me and I'm not disappointed. Already more than 500 km traveled together and it holds up well. I recommend it to anyone who wants an affordable first gravel bike.

Excellent gravel

The Triban RC520 is very pleasant to ride and responds perfectly to my 50% roads 50% paths program. Provided you optimize the saddle and handlebar settings, it is comfortable and fast.

Opinion after almost 2 years of use and 4000 km

This is my first gravel ride and my return to cycling for over 20 years, even though I have practiced other sports. I mainly ride on northern roads although I had the opportunity to take it to the Alps. I have used it so far for road outings (75% of the time) gravel outings (5% of the time) and the famous "vélotaf". In terms of strengths: Value for money that there is no longer any need to demonstrate to the competition. Comfort of use in terms of position on the bike (I had the opportunity to cycle for 4 days consecutively with long outings and I never had back pain) and even the very pleasant handlebar tape (I just tested another bike and this is a point that stood out to me) All the fixing points for placing panniers and other joys of long distance riding even if I only use the points to attach panniers to the The ideal rear for “vélotaf”. Overall, it's a pleasure to work with this machine. The subcompact 48/32 and the sprocket cassette allow great tolerance on very rolling courses to send watts and conversely for climbing trees or very uneven courses. As a weak point I would say the rims which only allow you to go down to 37mm in terms of tire size, which is a handicap if you want to do more "rolling" (which is the case for me now that I have a little more perspective on my back from my cycling). I am a fairly heavy runner (to which I sometimes add my panniers) and the rim tape had to be changed (taken from the warranty and quickly changed at Btwin) because the wheel must have suffered quite a bit from my activity. This bike really offers versatility in use and will allow you to discover or rediscover cycling. If you are hesitant in your practice, go for this bike which will allow you to have fun on all the paths you take without coming out completely broken.

fantastic for quality/price

I wanted to wait before leaving a review to see how it performed. Initially bought to travel the 9km to work, but it is so comfortable that I also use it in my free time... Bought almost a year ago, used daily for 18-20km...on weekends I ride up to 120km...never had it one problem apart from the occasional puncture. Well built frame is quite solid, very light and the color is still like the first day. Brakes are good for the price even if they could be a little more... but they are more than good. Gearbox works well and is very fast. unfortunately it was set badly like other things that I will explain later... the standard sprocket set works best on flat or slight slopes... forget about doing prolonged climbs. for everything else it is fantastic for the quality/price ratio.. 1 star for how it arrived or rather for how it was mounted, the handlebar was crooked and even a few degrees... as mentioned, the gearbox was set badly, the 1st gear didn't even go up and the 2nd -3 it jumped... However more than satisfied with the use I make of it.

Very solid gravel bike and great looks

Positive: + Quality is completely fine for the price + Color is very nice and not so boring + Braking performance is better than expected + Brake and shift cables or wires are on the outside of the frame, which makes handling and adjustment/replacement much easier + Lots of threads for attaching bags (fork, in the frame in two places, etc.) + Nice minimalist tools are included Negative: - Gear shift may need to be fine-tuned after assembly - Rubber protection, which is supposed to prevent the cables from rubbing at the front, sometimes slips a bit (luxury problem) I'm about 185cm, frame size L is perfect and there's still a bit of room for adjustment

Disappointing

Bought 1 month ago, I'm skipping the delivery which lasted 3 times the usual duration (package canceled twice because of paint problems then second package sent to the wrong store) these are things that happen. The first 15 days went well, the bike was nice but I still had to go back to the workshop to readjust the rear derailleur which had been hastily fitted. After 1 month of use, a cracking noise is heard in the frame, return to the workshop, I will have to wait 3 to 4 weeks. The bike is my vehicle for going to work, no solution is offered to me to replace it during repairs. This is a disastrous experience for my bike at Decathlon.

Best quality price report

Shimano 105 at this price... The bike is impressive, it offers high performance and I have full confidence in it. I use it for both sports and cycling outings. Small downside: I had to adjust the brakes myself and the gear change is imprecise due to poor adjustment.

Saving in the wrong place.

Why don't you make the bike about 200 euros more expensive and equip it with a fully hydraulic brake and thru axles? What a shame.

Recurring brake caliper problems

Bike purchased in 2022, after a lot of terminals on it I always had brake problems with the calipers. The pistons of the TRP hydro-mechanical calipers systematically end up no longer returning to the starting position, which asymmetrically and prematurely wears the pads until the piston comes out or completely blocks the disc. In January 2024 I made a return and after 2 MONTHS of waiting to order a replacement caliper (don't be in too much of a hurry) from the store and resolve the problem my 2 front and rear calipers are again stuck in the tightening position thus constantly braking the wheels. Despite the oil change, the latter do not return to neutral position and therefore need to be changed again... I will therefore have to get quotes to switch to mechanical because the complete hydraulic change costs around €570 at Decathlon. .. To be continued,

A good base but problems

This is my second decathlon bike. The first one (Riverside 7) was always extremely satisfying. This is unfortunately not the case with this one. The rim tapes were already missing, which were added by Decathlon after multiple punctures. Not great customer experience from the start. There were also missing screws which were added afterwards. But now more serious, I just broke my cassette body without any shock in the middle of a week-long cycling trip in Brittany with a friend. On the road. All one day after the end of the warranty year. I had to cancel the trip altogether due to a lack of parts available at Decathlon. The very big hassle... In short, I am very disappointed with Decathlon and for the moment have absolutely no confidence in this bike. It's a shame because it's very pretty and quite pleasant to drive. Pretty well equipped for the price. But clearly having to pay for a rear wheel again doesn't satisfy me at all. For the first time, I am disappointed by Decathlon and I am not sure I will buy a bike from this brand in the future.

Great gravel bike with top price-performance ratio

I was looking for an inexpensive gravel bike and found it at Dekatlon. I'm still really happy with it after a few weeks and can really recommend it.

Bike purchased 3 years ago

I had time to discover it, its good and bad sides. Overall it's a very good bike, one that I had fun with and still have fun with. It holds up, efficient and fast, I like it a lot. However, I had bad experiences: First, the Decathlon salespeople advised me to switch it to "Tubeless" since it is "Tubeless ready" = huge mistake. Never switch your bike to tubeless, it costs an arm and a leg (around 50 euros) and the fluid (which you will have to replace very often, because it dries and deflates the wheel) costs around 15 euros, it's a trick to pump yourself up your money. Nothing beats a good old two-euro inner tube that can even be sealed with a specially designed dressing. The second problem is the saddle, it quickly hurts the buttocks if the outing lasts more than an hour, bring a padded saddle on occasion. Apart from the inconvenience caused by the wheels which I find to be of poor quality and the saddle which is uncomfortable in the long run, the bike is overall very good, all the parts can be changed, nothing is sealed, which is quite cool. I note the price increase for this bike that I bought for 1000 euros, we will explain it by "inflation", even if the increase is enormous.

This my first bike…

This my first decathlon bike, I must say that I am satisfied so far. For the moment it's just velotaff.
